The Analects of Confucius with Professor Stephen Angle
Join us for a conversation with Author and Professor Stephen Angle and Dr. Matthew Croasmun about Analects of Confucius. Prof. Angle is Professor of East Asian Studies at Wesleyan University and his research focuses on philosophy’s role in human rights, politics, and ethics both in China and globally.

The Analects of Confucius is a collection of Confucius’ teachings, expressing a philosophy grounded in virtues such as filial piety, benevolence, and trustworthiness. It is one of the foundational texts of Life Worth Living, a seven-week course founded at Yale University and now taught both online and on site at Grace Farms Foundation.

The Analects have been foundational for many people for centuries in defining the shape of flourishing life. And yet, as ancient texts, they can be intimidating. Prof. Angle is a master at making these texts come to life for the modern Western reader. This session is aimed at helping those new to Confucianism find their way into its wisdom.

Our Books on Faith & Meaning series consists of monthly presentations introducing selections from the Faith & Meaning section of the Grace Farms Library. Spanning multiple religious and philosophical traditions, both ancient and contemporary, these texts encourage us to think critically about the meaning in our lives.
